Honor Your Parents

Honor your father and your mother, as Yahweh your God commanded you; your days may be long and go well with you in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.—Deuteronomy 5:16

First, it is a commandment of God, and our obedience is a must, and the only choice is separating from the word of Truth. The evil forces are around us, waiting for an inch of space in our thoughts so they can squish in to do their deceptive work to devour us when we allow it. Secondly, it is the only right thing to do for our parents. Thirdly, our parents were given to us by God. We did not pick our parents, but it is God’s choice.

What does it mean to respect our parents?

Give them what they want. Obey them as they please. To let them run our lives. We can add more to these, but what good will it give us when it only sounds like we do not want our parents on our backs? Parents, like God, only want good things for us. Giving them respect means showing them love. Giving respect is just a tiny way of appreciation; it must be high regard, and admiration is what they deserve. Obedience to their righteous request and respect for being parents is the least they expect. Honor and being proud of them are more than enough than material things.

The best time to tell your parents you love them while they can hear you is now.
