Getting Closer to God
We should start talking about God, talk to God, start walking with God, and walk towards God; when we enter into an intimate heart relationship with God through faith in His Son (Hebrews 10:22), He becomes our heart’s desire. It is hard to walk without Him. We feel that something is lacking; we feel some emptiness. But, knowing God hears His voice.
To hear God’s voice, we must belong to God. Jesus said, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). Those who hear God’s voice are those who belong to Him—those who His grace has saved through faith in the Lord Jesus. These sheep hear and recognize His voice because they know Him as their Shepherd. Therefore, to recognize God’s voice, we must belong to Him.
Sharing our hearts with Him, seeking to please Him, and seeking His truth will become our focus. He becomes everything to us. With us, God (Immanu El) is not a one-day-a-week meeting with Him, not reserved only for Sunday service. We live to fellowship with Him, to be with Him, and live in unbroken worship with Him. The only possible way we can be with Him and walk with Him is to fear Him, meaning not to offend Him in any way and in any kind that is against His will and start a new beginning, a fresh start. Forget the past, repent, and be baptized by the Holy Spirit.
Meditate on this word every night, and you will be alright when you wake up, Remember that God is with you; he said: “Do not be afraid — I am with you! I am your God — let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.” — Isaiah 41:10
You don’t have to wait until the New Year for a fresh start because his mercies are new every time we wake up in the morning. “Because of the LORD’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22-23
He is the author of a renewed spirit, and His grace is upon us that believe. “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh” — Ezekiel 11:19
