Suffering, Healing, and Death

Common challenges in humans’ minds.

Suffering

The Bible shows that our purpose in life is to build a friendship with God; having said that, all the sufferings, whether mental or physical, should not become burdensome. However, when healing goes the other way, our weakness threatens our belief system, and death, whether physical or spiritual, may influence the power of fear to overcome us.

When Christians die physically, they continue to live spiritually forever in the presence of God. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.” (John 11:25). The scripture that Jesus is saying is both spiritual and physical death.

The Bible states that God should not be blamed for human suffering. “Let no man say when he is tested; God tests me; for God can’t be tested by evil, and He puts no man to such a test.” (James 1:13)

Healing

When someone is in pain due to illnesses, they ask God for healing; when someone is in extreme anxiety or sorrow, they call God for help. God performs miracles to heal physically, spiritually, and emotionally! But, when things go the other way and do not get the expected result, they quickly turn their back away from God.

Remember, despite the extraordinary powers bestowed and miracles performed through God’s Spirit, Elisha the Prophet himself was not healed of some sickness but died from it. So likewise, Jesus healed a man with leprosy, a woman with a blood problem, and a blind man, but He did not do miracles for unbelievers.

Ten lepers approached Jesus, and Jesus sent them to the priest instead of healing them. Sometimes the “miracle” is performed through the hands of our doctor. We seek healing, comfort, and protection from other experts, but we must not forget the primary source of our healing, protection, comfort, and redemption comes from our Lord God alone through Jesus Christ.

When Jesus called His twelve disciples, He gave them power over unclean spirits, cast them out, and healed all kinds of sickness and diseases. God empowers someone to be in His place. -Matthew 10:1

Why many Christian denominations preached spiritual healing, yet they have big hospitals like; Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, and others? The sad part is that they will not give treatment if you do not have health insurance or money to pay for services. Nothing that I could explain more but to say that it is a business for profit! God’s healing through Jesus Christ is not for profit.

The consequences of Sin coming into the world are not fully understood until one sees the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ as “the lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.” He died so that we might be clothed with His righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21).

Death

If Jesus conquered death, why do humans still die?

The first human, Adam and Eve, lost their lives because they sinned against God. (Genesis 3:17-19) Death was the only possible outcome of their rebellion against God, for with him is “the source of life.”—Psalm 36:9

Adam passed on the defect of Sin to all his descendants.

As the Bible says: “Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.” “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” ( (Romans 5:12) and Romans 3:23).

When will death be eliminated from the face of the earth? God promises a time when “he will swallow up death forever” (Isaiah 25:8). To remove death, he must end its root cause, which is Sin. So Jesus Christ “takes away the world’s sin”—John 1:29; 1 John 1:7.
