HEALING THROUGH MEDITATION & BEYOND
Healing is a very common word that everyone who hears it knows exactly the meaning. This is literally understood as a recovery from sickness, any ailment, from any emotional distress, to restore to its original form and good state or to mend any problems or difficulties associated with physical, mental and emotional being.Emotions are the root of almost every illness because all kinds of unlimited emotions, whether anger, worries and all other kinds of emotions get “stuffed” in the body which in the process creates aches, pains, general discomfort, mentally, physically, emotionally and eventually cause serious injury to the body like tumors, cancers, etc.
Emotions also are the foundation on which we build our life wherein they either inspire us or limit our well being. We could have joy, peace, bliss and happiness and at the same time could have the feeling of anger, fear, unworthiness and confusion. But these factors make us a whole person. Emotions when limited and controlled can cause a person to get stuck to a wrong or false perception about itself.
These emotions with beliefs shroud our divine Self. As we explore spirituality, it is also necessary to acknowledge and let go of limitation in the form of fear, denial and disbelief. This emotion needs enough courage and trust to explore its inner working.
In order to start talking about the power of healing through meditation we have to involve how meditation works in healing, its acceptance by science, by general public, and acquisition to a systematic approach to gain skill or proficiency. We need knowledge and we need understanding to apply this ancient practice to our own health benefits. Meditation is being used for thousands of years. People use meditation to move mind’s busy activity and emotional commotion from entering deeply into subject of thought.
The power of meditation has been proven not by theory anymore since it has been proven in research results by laboratory analyst, medical doctors and other scientists that meditation has the capability for healing. With long history of its existence and being practiced for its healing power, meditation comes very handy for self healing and others. Ability to do it and to know and understand that it will work if properly practice. Meditation has an overwhelming acceptance and benefits to our body. ”Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.” –Aristotle
The meditation on healing is effective and will guide in every level when the spirit, mind and body work together. It will result in unparalleled balance of thought alertness and well being, rejuvenate the body and revive the thought to always be prepared for any given time to do a session. We are under bondage of fears and stress, a norm of life in today’s environment feeding our soul, and let go on our mind and spirit from the captivity of stress and worry. Just watching TV will make our brain filled with scary things the news where it seems is not news if it is not bad. Medications prescribed to us to take 1 pill a day makes us more vulnerable to other diseases.
Nowadays, due to high prices and nasty side effects brought by conventional drugs, people tend to look for alternative medicines. As one of my colleagues said that the drugs he was taking made his skin dry and scaly and always tired and sleepy. It is healing the original disease but creating more than one new disease. People are not opening their ayes to this natural health, methods and ways of healing. Holistic nutrition, naturopathy, herbalogy and natural health are some of those alternatives medicinal practice not disregarding to mention the more ancient method which is faith healing.
Food is considered also to be the best medicine of our body and avoiding the habit of eating unhealthy will cut cholesterol, prevent cancer, ease pain of arthritis and lose weight. Books, websites, audio and video formats publish for seekers of truthful knowledge of healing. There is a broad spectrum of explanations in written and unwritten history of modern and ancient medicine and all end up to a part of beliefs and religion.
In order to go deeper than meditation process of healing we must go beyond our imagination, the reality that there are other forms of healing that have been in existence for centuries and their acceptance by various culture and tradition. Their origin and roots and the effects they did to have them survive until this time. With the advancement of modern technology, availability of information is just around the corner. The resources are just within our reach and going beyond this process will open the door in learning the mystical, spiritual and natural form of healing.
Traditional treatment involves one or a combination of traditional meditation, traditional rituals and taking traditional medicines. Mind, Body, Spirit, Heart & Soul are parts of traditional healing. Shamanic healing is one of early healing which is focus on spirit infused healing. Native American traditional healing is another healing. And to protect your health, knowledge is most important weapon. You need to know how different power work. Their side effects if there are any. Either modern medicine, traditional or natural alternatives what makes the treatment the best choice is the combination of factors that includes the effectiveness, safety and cost.
If we can afford it, the only solution with all these things around us is to leave the current level of life and retreat either to the mountaintop or in the seaside of the country where you can feel freedom from all anxieties and stressful life and live a life with ignorant creation free from all the debris of the urban life. Abandoning this lifestyle is a dream come true but there is nothing impossible under the sun. If you cannot make it let your offspring or their offspring do it and all we have to do is initiate it. With fresh air, soothing breeze from the sea a culminating sound of the waves free from pollution, we can harness the power of our mind and breathing through meditation’s power of healing.
We combine our spiritual and practical knowledge and understanding of our human conduct which has something to do in achieving the wisdom that may develop in meditation. Maintaining the health and healing potential will still be at hand and can enjoy exercising its power through regular practice. Also stated at http://www.spiritual-healing-meditation.com/spiritual-healing.html, “Faith plays a major role in this process of healing. Studies conducted by Harvard Medical School associate professor Dr. Herbert Benson, M.D. indicate that the method of meditation is not as important as the person's belief that it will produce beneficial results. This idea is also mirrored in many mystical and religious writings.

The greatest level of influence in our existence is the belief that our stronghold in our daily journey in this world is our Almighty Father in heaven. Our Physical mechanics call it the mysterious level of our creation and tying this together for the ultimate truth; man was created and formed with the belief in the existence of God. As Taoist call it Tao, Christian and Jews call it God and Muslim call it Allah to name a few and this thing is regarded by many as the essence of life. These are the things that make a thing a thing.
Through an intuitive understanding of our spirit we recognize that life is beautiful, that life is full of promise and our soul enjoys the comfort of that interpretation. While our spirit is outside our body searching for wisdom, a disconnection occurs and our soul lives in fear because all the access to truth is blocked. Spirit and soul connection is needed in order to have a harmonious life. It is like a separation from God and is a separation from the light, and the suspension of light will be living in darkness.
In years passed people get healed by means of natural plants provided to them by the herb man, cunning man, quack doctor, witch doctor, medicine man you name it there more designation that we can think of, it only proved that before the secular schools have been established they are already healing patients for centuries they are first to discover the medicine that came from the plants. They still exist at this modern time at this advance scientific age of modern equipments.
Their methods are still acceptable to those areas where majority of the people are poor and can not afford to pay the high price of consultation and the uncontrolled costs of the medicines. Some still believe that diseases or any illnesses are caused by the evil spirit. These healers do not give drug therapy or surgery like medical doctors do. They do not do any physical contacts with the patients except for those who practice healing patients that are possessed by bad spirits. They sometimes do the healing process by making a smoke from the burned plants and let the patients inhale it, so the bad spirit will be choked and leave the body of the victim.
Many occult practitioners are living in darkness and my direct experience way back in the 50’s correlates with this theory when my own family became a victim of witchcraft. My mother’s sister who was my aunt used to live with us when I was still 7 years old. My aunt married a man who was believed to be possessing black magic power. This man was previously married and the first wife died of unknown cause. It all started when my aunt came to our house bare footed with sharp eyes and screaming, cursing and she was not her that I know.
There was a story of a whole family in the 50’s this happened in Manila who were possessed by evil spirit through their brother in law who has that black magic power. According to the story the first victim is his own parents and the second is his sister in law married to his brother then is mother in law in his second wife. His first wife dies but nobody knows how. As the family of his second wife is now a victim of this bad spirit there were commotion inside the house day in and day out. Sometimes they are conscious in the daytime but not at night time.
The second week of this horrible experience one of the brother that were not infected by this evil spirit came to the house with a bottle where a wooden cross is inside started to pray and then left for something he said he wants to accomplished. Few hours after he left there came a bunch of male and they said they want to help to heal the victims. They are all at middle age and the victims have no choice in their half conscious mind and physically tired due to lack of sleep they said they really need help everything came out fine and the family recognized each other for a short time and do not have any memory of what had happen in the past few days. That night worse thing happened.
They are really hurting each other no more yelling and it was now physical contacts one being thrown out in the stairways, one out in the windows ceramics plates are being thrown to each other. The following morning the police authorities came and health officials took every one of them for examination and after the diagnosis they said that they are in the early stage of loosing their mind and need to be confined for treatment.
In conclusion to this story the family was diagnosed with loosing their mind but was released that day in their brother’s request. The victims were not talking until they arrived in their house where it all began. The brother brought in few medicine men they started the healing process and they said they found out that the bunch of male came that said will help them were from the group of the dark side and they will be back anytime in the night, so they waited until it show a sign that they are in the body and started the healing process. They say a prayer with the tail of a Stingray on their hands while they are whispering something may be healing words. They put something in their mouth and continue weeping with the tail of the page to the victim and a few minutes there were exchanges of words from the victims and the medicine men.
The voices of the victim this time sounds like a man and the medicine men three of them said it is time to perished them and gave the spirit a few minutes and the bad spirit confessed and point who their leader was and said that they are leaving the body. One of the medicine men told one of the brothers of the victims to go to the house of the leader whom he already knew when he heard it in their confession and that was his brother in law’s house. When he reached the place and went inside he found his brother in law on the floor in severe pain and asking for forgiveness. The intention of the medicine men is to verify the correctness of the confession and they will hand down the judgment.
This is a true to life experience. it always come and go and talked about it when me and my sisters gathered together. I witness all of this in my alert mind and I was only 7 years of age on top of the cabinet where I and my two sisters were there when evening comes. My Mother, Aunts and Cousins were all victims of this horrible evil act of an individual who will destroy anything for his own satisfaction through his black magic power – witchcraft. I really never know who won in this battle, all I know is that I lived a normal life with family, although sometimes there are occasions that this horrible experience is being discussed.
My first experience made me aware that the powerful weapon to combat evil is our belief that Our Creator, the Father Almighty neither sleeps nor slumber and He will never leave us or forsake us. He is always present to protect us. Before I become a born again Christian I have feelings of emptiness and discomfort and even in my dreams something is haunting me and not realizing that the one that bothers me lives within me. It is inside me and something that is around me is only an object where I can put the blame on, some kind of a cover up to put the blame away to the real source. I did not know then what I know when I received the wisdom and acquired the knowledge of meditation. I know It was not a material thing and I am right, but the cure for all those lonely years added to my present stress in life resulted to a depression.
I never stop searching and seeking for an answer until I finally gave up and surrendered to my doctors prescription, a conventional drugs which I tried for so many years to avoid taking. An anti-depressant drug was prescribed to me and had really helped me. The side effect it gave me is bearable, however this medication made my mind blank that it seems I do not care what is going on around me. My family noticed my behavior has changed that my facial expression was different, that I was always smiling, always in a good mood but this change made them uncomfortable especially my wife. I did not know what I was feeling but I know it was a nice feeling compared before I was not taking any medication. In my own observation is could be addictive because of the feelings of being mindless, which is a great escape to not feel the pain of sadness or any sad emotions.
I became mindful of my inner problems when I started school at the University of Metaphysical Sciences. As a student I learned meditation, which is one of our course. Learning this method, I learned that having an unforgiveness heart will set you captive of yourself. I started to meditate with a forgiving heart and tried to go back in my childhood days to find out what is it that haunts me, who is it that that needs my forgiveness, to free myself from the bondage of hate, to free myself from captivity of my own self inflicted wound. Now through meditation I cleared my mind, my soul and spirit, the entire blockage that lingers in there. At times, it comes and it goes but it is just a nuisance that cannot harm or interfere in my mind.
To sum it all, I found out that the problem arises from my pride. This I found when practicing meditation and that this has healed me from my inner problems. I felt good ever since.
This I can say that you do not need to wait for that person or persons who caused you grief to ask for your forgiveness, because sometimes they will never do, or perhaps they don’t even know that they owe you one.
This experience allowed myself to recognize that forgiveness is a medicine that can cure stress. But other times it may not be so clear why we feel so stressed out. Meditation in this case is very effective and it takes us beyond the boundaries of modern and a very technical medicines. We need to go beyond the understanding of healing, we need to practice and achieve the knowledge and understanding of the many benefits of these ancient methods of healing.
I venture not only to study the Sacred Scripture of the Holy Bible but also with an ardent love of knowledge to seek for the truth and to endeavor to reveal and to explain to those who wish to understand them. Meditation is perceptible only by intellect and things perceptible to external senses could be impossible to attain. Meditation in my own experience is like putting oneself inside a sphere to eject in outer space manipulating every step to control the way. When it starts floating there seems to be no beginning and no ending. Meditation can be controlled by breathing and as I exerted effort, I got excited and generated a lot of energy. I learned to generate shining light with different colors in the background and I learned the easy way to a successful meditation by having a clear mind and cleansing the mind is one on the thing that we need to do in order to have a smooth flow of our imagination, and then aura the 7 Chakra.
To pray with meditation with one's whole being—Spirit, soul and body. It connects the physical realms of manifestation with the dimensions of the spirit. Where the Spirit speak with language, where soul meditates in silent prayer as the body praying in utterance. In meditation you need wisdom, understanding and knowledge and with the spiritual guidance it will lead us. When praying, meditation is encouraged as it was stated in the book of Joshua 1:8 of the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.
Meditation brings purity; it is a process that has nothing to do with dual personality or your shadow of the past experiences. When you focus in the object you become whole, a split of your thinking is not divided, no blockage, no pausing or stopping. It will be a continuous process of not withdrawing to your attention to the working senses. The breathing will intensify the condition of the ongoing process.
Concentrating the value of life will lead you to seek physical, mental and spiritual stability and make life divine. One experience with God is a lifetime achievement and that is what we want to pursue and it only happen once. Once we receive the Spirit of wisdom and the revelation of the knowledge of Him, through understanding, we know Him better. We can communicate with Him as we have Christ in ourselves. A miraculous development is always available. A friend asked me if human has a soul and if we have, how could we see it. Also about the spirit, if it is the same as the soul. With these questions in mind, it shows some spiritual healing is needed.
Meditation is somewhat connected to spirituality and meditation is an effective method in seeking for spiritual healing. Physical body is important in order to have a spirit filled body according to Genevieve L. Paulson in the book Meditation as Spiritual Practice (2007:20) “The physical body is very important in spiritual growth. A person can develop only as far as his or her physical body will allow. If the physical body stays dense, heavy, and full of blocks, the meditation energy will have a difficult time moving through the system. This creates aches, pains, crabbiness, and a general feeling of being a prisoner in your own body.” Furthermore “Using meditations to help develop the physical body greatly enhance growth. As our physical bodies become lighter, freer, and the cells more developed, we begin to see our bodies as our allies rather than our jailors”.
For most people stress is a fact of life. You may not be able to get out of it overnight but still the option is open to find alternatives. Having a stressful life leads us to depression. As described in the book of Healing with Pressure Point Therapy by: Jack Forem and Steve Shimer. (1999 :360) “We all experience stress everyday. Although we do our best to cope with it. It is one of the most significant health hazards in modern life. Experts estimate that 70 and 80 percent of health disorders – and doctors visits - are stress related”. As other said that stress is the root cause of some major diseases.
Our awareness today is more centered in the relationship that exists between the spirit, body and mind. Our Creator gave us awareness to be mindful not only having the food that nourishes our body but also equipped us with weapon of protection. His divine power has given us the availability of everything we need to survive and it is up to us to cultivate this gift or gifts and use it under His guidance. But before we can utilize these gifts we need the knowledge of Him and knowing Him better is by being obedient to his will.
Every person is unique and may respond differently to treatment. It could be a case to case basis; and can also be faith to faith and can also due to severity of the disease. Like the experience of Al Wolfsen author of the Healing by God’s Natural Healing (1997:2) who himself turned into natural healing and received rapid healing after the medical doctors gave up Al’s hope of recovery.
There is a saying that you have to put up the spirit first and then the physical transformation will follow with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, a belief that many Christian embraced for many years and for non Christian transformation through their gods and goddesses. A bunch of books has been written about Psycho Therapy, Chiropractic books. Healing by Magnetism, Healing through Magnetic Energy Field, Shaman Method, Witchcraft, Christian Faith of Laying of Hands.
Some of these books mentioned that the discovery to heal diseases came from the other world, and some through inheritance, some through research from the books of the underworld and some from their great belief in the Holy Spirit intercession or the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
“The body never gives up the fight no matter how bad things are, no matter how serious the situation, no matter how long-standing has been the neglect. As long as it is alive, the body strives for homeostasis - balance. Like water in a jar that seeks its own level no matter what position the jar is in, the body seeks to normalize, correct and maintain balance no matter what the circumstances”. (http://www.angelfire.com/ia/trikay/nolfi.html).
As unique as Kristine Nolfi, M.D. a Physician from Denmark for 50 years, in her statement after turning her back from conventional healing to the nature’s power of healing: “Since that time, I have been treating all my patients with natural methods - namely, by living food -- with astonishing results. My sanatorium "Humlegaarden" always has a waiting list. I do not regret severing my relations with the medical profession, and I am happy to have entered the field of nature cure. Thanks to this persecution by my former colleagues, my reputation grew immensely in all Scandinavian countries. This kind of advertisement was worth more to me than money could buy. Thus my former colleagues acted as my free press agents, and I have received free publicity in all Scandinavian newspapers.
During the persecution by the medical doctors, I was called a charlatan doctor; but now the doctors have changed their minds about me. They tell their patients who report to them the good results they got in my sanatorium that I am a good psychologist and personage. They do not wish to admit, however, that living food has caused the good results. I will die, but be sure: living food will live, will be spread all over the whole world, and will help to save suffering humanity from all diseases, both of body and mind, and thereby create one world”! Kristine Nolfi, appr. 952, Copenhagen, Denmark, http://www.gersonhawaii.us/articles/curedcancers2.html
Eating foods with harmful chemicals or waste products pollute not only our body but as well as our mind. Contaminated water, polluted lakes and streams will affect not only our body but also the environment we live in, and if not controlled will destroy the source of our nature cure. It is long overdue to respect our nature given place to dwell, it is about time to practice love and recognition for every living thing that exist whose only purpose is to provide protection for our longevity in this world. In the book of Mudras Yoga in Your Hands by Gertrude Hirschi (2000:11) “Every healing within also brings healing into your world. An illness in the body is always connected with thoughts and feelings that make people sick. A certain amount of time is required before healing takes place on every level. So allow yourself the time-practice ardently and remain completely serene and confident while doing so. Then the chances of healing will be the greatest.”
In addition to having polluted mind and body will give us poor understanding of how to focus to a better food and place to live and thus the present condition of a population of individual’s health will lead into the future and will be rooted out from generation to generation until the life span will be diminished and will result to shorter existence until it is too late and extinction may happen. Hands of Light by Barbara Ann Brennan (1988:131) Stated:” From the perspective of a healer, illness is the result of imbalance. Imbalance is a result of forgetting who you are. Forgetting who you are creates thoughts and actions that lead to unhealthy lifestyle and eventually to illness.”
In Seeking the Hearts of Wisdom by Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield (1987:76), “To understand them is to know the prescription for a powerful and healing medicine. We must then take the medicine, which in meditation is a matter of actually developing this mind states. As we practice, we can come to sense how these qualities operate in our minds and in our lives.” If we stand on our rights to survive, we need a clean environment, we need a clean food free from chemicals, clean water to drink free from contamination, air that we breathe free from pollution and it takes more than one agency of the government to implement it. It needs our involvement if we need the future generation to live and survive free from illnesses.
Practice makes perfect and hands on training sometimes does cut the time of achieving the knowledge of the proper procedure of the effectiveness of this modality. This technique is only one of the many methods of healing beyond mediation. Chi or energy flow is the center in this method of healing. Proper blood circulation is very important and this alternative medicine can be of help. In the book of Healing with Pressure Point Therapy by Jack Forem and Steve Shimer (1999:143)”In Oriental medicine, stagnation is considered the cause of most illness. Stress, overwork, lack of sleep, irregular schedule, overeating, and emotional ups and downs all contribute to the disruption of the smooth flow of chi. Since chi is the commander of the blood, stagnation of the chi can easily lead to disruption of blood circulation.”
In the book Wheels of Light by Rosalyn L. Bruyere(1989:146)”The Kundalini is also the primary energy source for out of spiritual vehicle. These mean that people who do not have “spiritual nervous system” (the chakra system) awakened are half alive. They are alive on the output; they are not alive on the intake”, It needs a spirit filled individual for this healing to achieve success. Light energy is the source of this healing and a full awareness is necessary. Major religion in the world emphasized various chakras but it still evolved in the same healing energy.
We need to know of ourselves, our innermost self to conquer the sorrows and suffering brought by this violent and changing world. The disconnection with our self may cause for us to get stumble and may result to the destruction of our awareness and give up the physical and emotional fight of survival. The Four Yogas by Swami Adiswarananda (2006:176) stated: “The keynote of inner cleanliness is eliminating the elements of inertia(tamas) and restlessness(rajas) from the mind with the help of tranquility(sattva). Such tranquility must be physical as well as mental. The psychology behind soucha is that it endows the seeker with a spirit of faith in him or her. Cleanliness, when adhered to both externally and internally, endows one with feeling of purity that brings in its wake a sense of aversion for one’s own body and a disinclination to come into physical contacts with others.”
The enemy is just around the corner and a good defense is the awareness of their existence. Ignoring the existence of the attackers may cause us to be surprised how big the problem it will bring. Small and bearable pain needs an immediate attention. To be a good soldier of our body we can start a preventive measure, to avoid surprises. We have to be alert at all times because the enemies will not sleep until they do harmful things. In Anatomy of Hatha Yoga by H. David Coulter (2001:19)“, If you do not listen to messages of your body you will be a candidate for pulled muscles, tendonitis, pinched nerves, and ruptured intervertebral disk. To avoid injury in hatha yoga you have to develop a self respecting awareness.” Honor the aches and pains do not ignore it the first time it occurs.
In Quantum Touch- The Power of Healing by Richard Gordon (2006:17) Discuss the breakthrough in hands on healing. In this healing, the vibration frequency it produces, the energy it generates and the willingness to cure and get cured are sum of all the tools for a successful healing. You need to be equipped to perform this vibration healing in order to overcome any obstacle or blockage. Breathing and meditation is essential in this type of healing. Love makes wonder also in this healing process as stated in this book by Richard Gordon; “Love is the universal vibration that allows people to transfer healing energy from one to another” As Christian and any other religion emphasize “Love brought us all here in this world”, The unconditional love that our God Almighty gave us has no match with any other love. It is the love above and beyond our comprehension.
According to World Health Organization, “Traditional medicine refers to health practices, approaches, knowledge and beliefs incorporating plant, animal and mineral based medicines, spiritual therapies, manual techniques and exercises, applied singularly or in combination to treat, diagnose and prevent illnesses or maintain well-being”. In addition to this very informative media release by World Health Organization in their official website: ”Traditional medicine has maintained its popularity in all regions of the developing world and its use is rapidly spreading in industrialized countries. In China, traditional herbal preparations account for 30%-50% of the total medicinal consumption. In Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Zambia, the first line of treatment for 60% of children with high fever resulting from malaria is the use of herbal medicines at home”.
Also stated: “In Europe, North America and other industrialized regions, over 50% of the population have used complementary or alternative medicine at least once. In San Francisco, London and South Africa, 75% of people living with HIV/AIDS use TM/CAM. 70% of the population in Canada have used complementary medicine at least once. In Germany, 90% of the population have used a natural remedy at some point in their life. Between 1995 and 2000, the number of doctors who had undergone special training in natural remedy medicine had almost doubled to 10 800.”
In the United States, 158 million of the adult population use complementary medicines and according to the USA Commission for Alternative and Complementary medicines, US $17 billion was spent on traditional remedies in 2000. In the United Kingdom, annual expenditure on alternative medicine is US$ 230 million. The global market for herbal medicines currently stands at over US $ 60 billion annually and is growing steadily”. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs134/en/)
With the attestation of the world organization and the physician under going special training in natural remedy it is indeed time for this generation to focus in clean air, water, foods and plants that gives nourishments to our body. The future is now and we can see and feel where future is leading us. We have to start building, thinking and doing the right thing to protect our mother earth. We need a free polluted earth. We need to express it and we do not just keep it to ourselves. This is the work of all the inhabitants of this world.
As explained in Wikipedia.com”for in popular usage mind is frequently synonymous with thought: It is that private conversation with ourselves that we carry on "inside our heads." Thus we "make up our minds," "change our minds" or are "of two minds" about something. One of the key attributes of the mind in this sense is that it is a private sphere to which no one but the owner has access. No one else can know our mind. They can only know what we communicate”. Communication is the key to this approach and oneness is a necessity to have a successful movement. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind)
After being mindful as we have discuss above, we need a healthy body to maintain this acquired awareness and the work of the brain has a significant effect to coordinate with this consciousness. We do not need to be mindful for the brain to work but we need the brain for mindfulness to work. “The brain is the site of reason and intelligence, which include such components as cognition, perception, attention, memory and emotion. The brain is also responsible for control of posture and movements. It makes possible cognitive, motor and other forms of learning. The brain can perform a variety of functions automatically, without the need for conscious awareness, such as coordination of sensory systems (e.g. sensory gating and multisensory integration), walking, and homeostatic body functions such as blood pressure, fluid balance, and body temperature.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain#Overview)
With the power of the mind and healthy brain these important elements in our body can free us from this contaminated environment. We must not ignore the ability, the capacity and the significance of this mind and brain combination that we can use in structuring a preventative medicine of our body as a whole. Remember a Christian passage we are made of “many parts but one body”.
At http://www.heimlichinstitute.org/default.php website: It states that “meditating for half an hour provides more psychological rest than a full night’s sleep. As you meditate on a regular basis, you will notice an increased sense of well-being as well as greater energy and creativity.
Nutrition therapists Tribole and Resch in the same website suggest: “that the best way for dieters to finally make peace with food and body image is to emulate the natural, intuitive eating habits of very young children”. Also added that:” habits subside and body and mind work together to achieve the "natural healthy weight."
“Using the creative portion of our minds in medicine and life each person creates within the limits of his or her knowledge and capability. With this creativity comes in challenge, frustration and controversy. Dr. Heimlich's favorite phrase is: "If all of your peers understand what you have done, you are not creative, but when ideas are proven successful, in spite of attempts to interfere, inevitably truth prevails, and the joys and rewards of one's work are insurmountable”,I can say that an unobstructed mind can give a healthy brain to retrieved knowledge that was stored in a smooth and in coordinated manner.
As the growth of worldwide acceptance of natural remedies the competition between the modern medicine and the alternative medicine becomes closer to a more aggressive race of supremacy both sides claiming the safety, low cost and effectiveness of the medicine. In the innovation.org website it stated: “For the first time in history, scientists are beginning to understand the inner workings of human disease at the molecular level. Recent advances in genomics, proteomics and computational power present new ways to understand illness. The task of discovering and developing safe and effective drugs is even more promising as our knowledge of disease increases.
Most often you can hear among Christians that they are not sick even though they are. Christians believe that their faith will heal their illnesses by uttering a prayer and claiming it afterwards that they are no longer sick, which often times come into an arguments with the skeptics, how real the belief if they end up still sick. All worldviews including atheism require faith and mind plays an important role and the spirituality being the foundation for the belief and the feelings of one’s body’s transformation from being to getting strong.
There are many books flooding the market for healing, like Psycho Therapy, Chiropractic, Healing by Magnetism, Healing through Magnetic Energy Field, Shaman method, Witchcraft, Christian Faith and many more of various healing manuscript and each practices, and all works depending on how your belief stands. In these books some mentioned their experiences how they acquired their power of healing, through inheritance, direct contact with the spirit, through prayer from God Almighty, some through research from the books of the underworld and some from their great belief in the Holy Spirit’s intercession.
Plants, animals and human being each one has their own ability to heal oneself. The plants have its own way of survival, the power of nature like rain, sunshine add to their survival of these group. The power of healing that each and every living creation possesses is very powerful weapon in combating the diseases inflicted by the change of the environment. Our agricultural land turned to a residential subdivision and high rise buildings, the continuous destruction of our forest by loggers, waterways being polluted by harmful chemicals, the animals being slaughtered and the respect for each living things was being violated. Due to these changes in our environment our body becomes vulnerable to illnesses and weakened our immune system.
During the expansion of the pharmaceutical drugs after World War II, some of the natural cure has been diminished and patients swing the cure through a prescription from physicians not withstanding the side effects of the modern drugs. Then, later in the century due to the rising cost of prescription drugs, the return of natural healing becomes more and more introduce to the public and the come back of these natural, spiritual, psychological approaches of healing, proved once again its power of healing. Natural healing from fruits and vegetables as well as the plants made a well deserve comeback. As Neal Barnard, M.D. stated in The Negative Calorie Effect (1997:88), “Along with other lifestyle changes, foods can actually help reverse heart disease, prevent many cases of cancer and improve cancer survival, yield dramatic improvements in diabetes and blood pressure, and help with many other conditions from appendicitis to varicose veins.”
Charcoal is a powerful clinical absorbent and can be used for dental hygiene and it neutralizes certain poison that enters the body. Charcoal, to some called it a miracle substance, does a lot of good health benefits. It removes toxic gasses, germs, fluid toxic waste from our body. It heals diarrhea caused by cholera, diabetes, intestinal disorders and more. The Wonder of Charcoal according to Drs. Agatha and Calvin Thrash in their book Charcoal (1988:2), “When wood is left on the ground, it begins to deteriorate immediately. If however, a fire burns across the forest, wood is charred, retarding the deterioration process. Pieces of charred wood remain years longer than wood of the same size and type not in a charred condition. Charcoal therefore, is simply charred wood. Not only does the charring process retard the deterioration of plant life, but this end product, charcoal has a special properties making it peculiarly useful in the human experience, its position being unfilled by any known substitute in the industry, chemistry, toxicology, and the military. Even traditional medicine has rediscovered the unparalleled properties of charcoal.”
According to E. G. White, Herbs for Health (1997:17) says: “one of the most beneficial remedies is pulverized charcoal in a bag and used in fomentations. If wet in smartweed, boiled, it is still better”.
Like any other kinds of medicines there are caution to be taken as warned by Clarence Dail, M.D. and Charles Thomas, Ph.D. in their book Hydrotheraphy: Simple Treatments for Common Ailments (1989:76) that “charcoal should not be used over a long period of time as it will absorb nutrition elements in the food as well as poisons and toxins.”
Holistic practice is more concerned of the benefits of healing a human can receive rather than more commercialized modern medicine. According to Warren Peter, M.D. in his book Mystic Medicine (1995:1,2) “It was gratifying and reassuring to see that the practitioners of the “holistic arts” were concerned about the totality of man, and I felt certain camaraderie with them, Frustration in my own field gave way to hope for a better, more humane method of practice. It was rather stimulating to be on the edge of “new frontiers” in medicine. It was exhilarating to be a medical heretic, and challenge the stuffy medical establishment.” And he added that “there had to be more to life than the latest technical advances in synthetic arteries or woven Dacron prosthetic grafts. What was happening to the “soul” and “spirits” of the human beings who were receiving those synthetic arteries? Who was taking care of their tears and hurts? Who cared about the whole person?”
And to continue his statement, he also mentioned that the holistic professional has more openness than that of highly competitive medical professionals, “We had common goals in the lifestyle areas of nutrition and exercise. We even talked about spiritual aspects of man, something that was strictly forbidden in the standard practice of medicine.” To achieve great health, we must understand the relationship between the mind, body, and spirit and go beyond superficial evaluations. Avoid the pitfalls of a person who makes deceitful pretenses (pseudo-science) and that dead communicate with the living (spiritualism). Holistic according to http://www.dictionary.com is “identifying with principles of holism in a system of therapeutics, especially one considered outside the mainstream of scientific medicine, as naturopathy or chiropractic, and usually involving nutritional measures.”
In the book Defeating Diabetes by Brenda Davis, R.D. and Tom Barnard, M.D. (2003:178) About herbals and botanicals, “those supplements that contains extracts or active ingredients from the roots, berries, seeds, stems, leaves, buds, or flowers of plants? Certainly, there has been intriguing research suggesting herbs such as ginseng and gingko can be helpful in reducing blood sugar levels. The wisdom of both the ancient Indian and Chinese medical system has shown that these “tonic herbs” may enhance glucose utilization and “adaptogenic”, providing protection from common age- and stress-related damage that occurs as a natural part of metabolic function as oxidation.”
Most health insurance companies nowadays shifted their focus to personalized medical care from disease treatment to health care management where they allow an insured to be examined by a physician before the occurrence of the disease such as prostrate and colon cancer. And also allowing the members to join health clubs at the company’s cost. This is a preventive treatment before the symptoms arise and this method saves them more money and saving more lives.
The increase in the admittance of In-patient treatment according to Coconut Oil for Health and Beauty by Cynthia Holzapfel and Laura Holzapfel (2003:52) major factor in the increase of hospitalization and death rates from infectious diseases is the rise in antibiotic resistance in different types of bacteria. Many people expect to get an antibiotic each time they visit the doctor, as if it was the magic bullet for any ailment. Unfortunately, bacteria and other microscopic organism can adapt so effectively that they can resist the drugs that are used to fight them. As a result, doctors have had resorted to using stronger and stronger antibiotics in order to cure infectious diseases. Our body has a built in immune system that does this. The stronger the dosage the greater the risk of destroying our helpful bacteria that is in our intestines.
All organisms, including pathogens, are embedded to survive. If they can’t survive under normal conditions, they will change and make adjustments to survive under abnormal conditions. This is why antibiotics and other drugs tend to be ineffective. The agent that causes the disease to occur have mutated, and relive to become more stronger and can withstand or deter aggressive attack against the substance that is used to destroy them.
Early diagnosis and early treatment is one factor of an early cure and can be added to those who claimed that life expectancy is higher than ever in the history and not only to the innovative advances of modern pharmaceutical drugs but also to changes in lifestyle and eating habit. Although we do not take away the credit to the innovative medicines, we can also give credit to the power of ancient healing.
According to Kristine Nolfi, M.D. in her book Raw Food Treatment of Cancer (1995:2) “Before I realized the actual importance of raw vegetable food, my attitude was exactly the same as that of other physicians – to treat the symptoms of the disease without thinking of preventing it. It ought to be the duty of the medical profession in future to find means of preventing to a much higher degree than now, instead of attempting to cure later on.” Yoga can reduce asthma attacks while Tai Ji techniques can help the elderly reduce their fear of falls.
Traditional medicine refers to health practices, approaches, knowledge and beliefs incorporating plant, animal and mineral based medicines, spiritual therapies, manual techniques and exercises, applied singularly or in combination to treat, diagnose and prevent illnesses or maintain well-being.
Countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America use traditional medicine (TM) to help meet some of their primary health care needs. In Africa, up to 80% of the population uses traditional medicine for primary health care. In industrialized countries, adaptations of traditional medicine are termed “Complementary“or “Alternative” (CAM).” (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs134/en/)
Herbalism is a traditional medicinal or folk medicine practice based on the use of plants and plant extracts. Herbalism is also known as botanical medicine, medicinal botany, medical herbalism, herbal medicine, herb logy, and phytotherapy. Sometimes the scope of herbal medicine is extended to include fungi and bee products, as well as minerals, shells and certain animal parts. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbal_medicine)
Often neglected which is within our reach. Every family must be awakened of their long sleep about the availability to produce their own herbal plants. When we are disinclined to make use of these remedies within our effort, who will we expect to do it for us? We have to work in order to obtain food for nourishment of our body and the use of our healing power is to be mindful of the blessings that the Lord has given us. We cannot gather a harvest if we do not break the sod, till the soil and cultivate the produce.
The Lord provides rain, sunshine and very fine water droplets for vegetation to grow luxuriantly. Ellen White stated in her Herbs For Health (1997:3, 4 & 5) “God has caused to grow out of the ground herbs for the use of man and if we understand the nature of these roots and herbs, and make right use of them, there would not be a necessity of running for the doctor so frequently, and people would be in much better health than they are today.” Added to this statement in page 5 of the same book” The Lord has given some simple herbs of the fields that at times are beneficial; and if every family were educated in how to use these herbs in case of sickness, much suffering might be prevented, and no doctor need be called. These old fashioned, simple herbs, used intelligently, would have recovered many sick, which have died under drug medication.”
In American medicine in late 19th and early 20th centuries, medicine selected from various sources made use of botanical remedies and physical therapy practices. Samuel Thomson (1769 - 1843) was an American herbalist from Boston, Massachusetts and founder of the "Thomsonian System" of medicine, who experienced, “when his wife nearly died after being treated via conventional medicine, Thomson consulted two herbalists, who treated his wife and taught Thomson some of their methods. Subsequently, Thomson used steam baths and herbs to cure one of his daughters and a son, and a few of his neighbors” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Thompson.
With the toxin entering our body when we take that conventional medicine we are taking the risk of developing another problem. To attach to this situation we can say that we are healing the present illness and at the same welcoming their side effects. Transcendental Meditation claims its health benefits as stated in the book cults, World Religions and the Occult by Kenneth Boa (1990:197) “TM’s advertising claims it can dramatically reduce stress and tension, improve health, increase productivity and self-confidence, heighten intelligence and creativity, and reduce the need for drugs”.
Could meditation be the alternative medicine to those harmful drugs? There are many ways to combat the use of conventional drugs and meditation is just one of the many. Meditation can be classified according to their focus or concentration it could be through perception or experience or to a select group of objects called concentrative meditation that involved a technique to shift between the fields and the object. It is used in most religions and spiritual practices.
In mindfulness meditation, the focus is the awareness on an object, breathing or sound. It is encouraged to maintain an open focus. In some tradition, mindfulness and concentration are combined. Some meditative traditions, such as yoga, tantra or mudras are common to some religions and this meditation can be practiced while walking or doing simple repetitive tasks. Meditation using visualization, concentrates on the flows of energy, such as Chinese Qi Gong.
In Christianity, faith is the stronghold for healing. Prayer is the best medicine, there is a saying that you have to put up the spirit first and then the physical transformation will follow with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, a belief that many Christian embraced for so many years. In the book Healing By God’s Natural Methods by Al Wolfsen (1997:8, 9 & 10) “Disease is an effort of nature to get the rubbish or toxic poisons out of our bodies, we don’t want to kill the disease that is sweeping out trash and rubbish from the body but help nature do the job of house cleaning”. “A practice that is laying the foundation of a vast amount of disease and of even more serious evils is the free use of poisonous drugs. People need to be taught that they sometimes afford present relief and the patient appears to recover as the result of their use; this is because nature has sufficient vital force to expel the poison and to correct the condition that caused the disease. Health is recovered in spite of the drug.”
“By the use of the poisonous drugs, many bring upon themselves lifelong illness, and many lives are lost that might be saved by the use of natural methods of healing”. If we will focus on the eight laws of health as described in the book we may be able to save adding disease on top of what we original have. “Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercises, proper diet, the use of water, and trust in divine power – these are the true remedies. Every person should have knowledge of nature’s remedial agencies and how to apply them.”
Other alternative approach to treatments is water therapy as stated in the book of Hydrotherapy by Clarence Dail, M.D. and Charles Thomas, Ph. D. (1989:IX) “The ability of the body to react may be improved by the use of water treatments as it is made to react to the heat and to cold applications. As we describe the use of the different treatments we shall refer to these reactions. Now there is another effect of hot or cold water treatments that must be realized. This principle applies to all living creatures and even to all chemical reactions.”
J.H. Kellogg stated in his book Uses of Water (2001:71), that “Much of the prejudice against the use of water in treating disease has grown out of abuses of the remedy, and the putting forward of absurd claims but ignorant persons professing to understand its use. In order to vindicate the character of this powerful curative agent, it is necessary to expose the error and ignorance of those who have abused it”. In addition to that statement he mentioned” In the early days of modern water cure practice, which was very largely introduced by Priessnitz, cold water was the universal remedy. No matter what the nature of the disease, or the condition or temperament of the patient, the remedy was the same.”
“At the establishment of Graefenberg doctor, ice douches, precipitated from a height of sixteen to eighteen feet, the plunge, directly supplied by the cold mountain springs, and the shower bath of the same temperature, were all administered to patients with little discrimination of modifying circumstances, in rooms unwarned by artificial heat, even in the depths of the coldest mountain winters. As Graefenberg was the source whence most water doctors of that time drew their knowledge, the same practice was pursued elsewhere.”
“The modern practice of medicine occurs at the many interfaces between the art of healing and various sciences. Medicine is directly connected to the health sciences and biomedicine. Broadly speaking, the term 'Medicine' today refers to the fields of clinical medicine, medical research and surgery, thereby covering the challenges of disease and injury.”
In the book of The Art of Massage by J.H. Kellogs, M.D. (1999:9) “Massage, or systematic rubbing and manipulation of the tissues of the body, is probably one of the oldest of all means used for relief of bodily infirmities. There is evidence that massage was employed by the Chinese as early as 3000 years ago. Their literature contains treatises upon the subject written some thousands of years ago.”
An ancient Chinese book entitled The Cong-Fou of the Tao Tse, of which a French translation appeared about a century ago, was probably the foundation both of our modern massage and of the manual Swedish movements so admirably elaborated and systematized by Ling. Massage is still very extensively employed by the Chinese, and also by the Japanese, who doubtless learned the art from the Chinese.

To add to these collections of healing discussed earlier there are more than a bunch of books in the market about Psycho Therapy, Chiropractic books. Healing by Magnetism, Healing through Magnetic Energy Field, Shaman Method, Witchcraft, Some in this books mentioned that they received the discovery to cure the disease through the direct contact with the underworld, some through research from the books of the underworld, some through inheritance and some from their great belief in the Holy Spirit intercession or the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their body. Some of these practitioners spent days in court for not having a proper certificate or documents to show that they are license to practice specially when their patients ends in fatality. D.D. Palmer a magnetic healer is one of them.(http://www.nndb.com/people/816/000166318/)
He discovered the method known as Chiropractic in late 1800 stated that many diseases are associated with derangement of the stomach, kidneys and other organs and can be healed through adjustment in the vertebrae. Testimonies after testimonies said they are healed by this methods, same way as the faith healers does as per testimonies of those that got healed. To avoid conflict with big and powerful associations of medical doctors, Who spent a lot of time and money burning eyebrows for their diploma proven their point when they put D.D. Palmer briefly to jail for practicing medicine without a license. In his later years, the elder Palmer claimed to have "received chiropractic from the other world", and argued that instead of seeking changes in the law to make chiropractic legal, chiropractors should claim that their work is protected by freedom of religion” (http://www.nndb.com/people/816/000166318/)
During my early practice of meditation there are times that it takes more than three attempts to focus my concentration and sometimes I will just quit for losing motivation and patience, until one day I discovered that I am still living with the shadow of my past, the existence of dual personality and the unforgiveness heart is the caused to block a successful meditation. I gained knowledge and understanding on what was going on around me, my personal environment and that is my family. My childhood experience has a lot to do with my adult life and that put clouds for me to move forward. I grew up with my father not around me. I grew up hoping that one day I can feel the warmness of a father’s hug, sweet memories to cherish day in and day out. This never happened till he passed away.
I used the healing power of meditation to conquer this entire blockage. It took me sometime but it is worth the prize of happiness of feeling victorious and most of all the peace of having a clear mind. Meditating almost everyday, I can now control the way to handle my duality. The shadow of my past experiences that haunted me for a long time has been healed by using the gift of forgiveness. It interferes sometimes in my concentration but it will not bother that much anymore since I am already in control of the situation.
Meditation in motion is a meditation in action where you play the role of the main character and not a background in a play. You are the director in a show not a fan of the show. You are a screenwriter that direct where you want your meditation to begin and where you want it to end. To pray with meditation with one's whole being—Spirit, soul and body. It connects the physical realms of manifestation with the dimensions of the spirit. Where the Spirit speaks with language, where soul meditates in silent prayer as the body praying in utterance. In meditation you need wisdom, understanding and knowledge and with the spiritual guidance it will lead you to an answered prayer. When praying, meditation is encouraged as it was stated in the book of Joshua 1:8 of the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.
Wicked men do wicked acts. You can get angry but do not sin and meditate within your heart in your bed and stand still. A chain reaction in the body in stressful state and raises blood pressure, sugar level, insulin levels. It also increases cholesterol and weaken our immune system that causes us to be more vulnerable to common ailment or more serious illnesses. Action and emotion need to be controlled through proper stress management. In stressful body one of the tendency that generate is the eating disorder in the book Yoga for Weight Loss by Celia Hawe (2003:62-63)“Most people have powerful beliefs about themselves and about ”what’s right” especially when it comes to food and dieting. Unfortunately many of these beliefs are subconscious thoughts that you are unaware of, so you can not challenge them. Many of the thoughts that you have are conditioning or default thoughts and are never questioned-they just come up automatically, and you may not even register them. If you do not challenge them, however, they become your truth.” And that will be our behavior when we spoiled our body in that condition.
Most people don't consider themselves ill, even though there are presence of pain such as slight headache, allergies, sleepless nights and other common and yet livable problems. This disruption in the normal condition of the body needs attention and should not be ignored especially when occurrence is at regular basis and start investigating the symptoms and cause of the discomfort. The nervous system is the first to look at since this is the central part that works in a stressful situation. The solution to this stressful state of mind is to practice what the Dalai Lama stated in his book: How to Practice-The Way to a Meaningful Life by, Dalai Lama and translated and edited by Jeffrey Hopkins, Ph.D., (2002:81) “You want happiness and do not want suffering, and if you show other people kindness, love and respect, they will respond in kind; this way your happiness will increase. If you show other people anger and hatred, they will show you the same, and you will lose your own happiness.” “If you are selfish, you should be wisely selfish. Ordinary selfishness focuses only on your own needs, but if you are wisely selfish, you will treat others just as well as you treat those close to you get better results by respecting others, serving others, and reducing self centeredness.”
It takes more than one step ahead to avoid diseases to attack our body, we must overcome obstacles to the essentiality of life which is the quality of food that enters our body, the clean air we breathe and the water we drink. It is also a necessity to clothe our body and to have a shelter for protection from weather and outside force. To also must equip our self with knowledge and understanding of self discipline. We must practice the process of elimination before and after it affects our body. It is more likely not to fully administer this process due to involvement of other people who do not practice this process, so the best is to be equipped with knowledge of healing ourselves.
Considering herbal treatment, nutrition and fasting and lifestyles adjustment may bring the wellness of the body. Some claimed that faith healing or energy medicine incorporates the channeling of energy and vibration to a person in need. The principle behind this type of healing practice is that the person channeling the energy is getting it from a spiritual source. Through the healer the energy that we have in our body has been activated to function. Therefore the energy usually takes place from a healer. It can also be considered that it may take during the meditation session.
Spirituality evolved on the beholder’s faith and it involves recognition, relationship and fellowship with a higher power, something beyond the concept of our imagination. Through that relationship, we can access the power to be healed or to heal others. “One of the most powerful benefits of developing your spirituality is a heightened sense of hope. Without a sense of hope, many people suffering from disease or illness find themselves drawn into a world of depression and negativity. Life just doesn't seem worth living. Strengthening your connection with a higher power offers you the hope that miracles can and do happen. Studies also indicate that people who participate in religious or spiritual activities have a well developed sense of psychological well-being. They are more likely to experience positive mental and emotion states. They are more likely to experience high self-esteem and feel good about life. And they are less likely to experience depression.” http://www.spiritual-healing-meditation.com/spiritual-healing.html
The importance of faith plays a major role in the process of healing. Studies conducted by Harvard Medical School associate professor Dr. Herbert Benson, M.D. indicate that “the method of meditation is not as important as the person's belief that it will produce beneficial results. This idea is also mirrored in many mystical and religious writings”. Dr. Benson and his group have treated thousands of people for medical problems poorly administered by conventional medical practice. “He views medicine as a three-legged stool: pharmaceuticals are the first leg, surgery and procedures the second. Mind/body interactions - the relaxation response, nutrition, exercise and spirituality (self-care) - is the third leg.
Since roughly 60 to 90% of doctor visits are for conditions related to stress, the mind/body or self-care approach is a vital component of effective health care. (http://www.mbmi.org/about/history.asp)
Any condition due to can be treated with spiritual healing and meditation. Dr. Benson also noted that the relaxation response can be elicited by a variety of meditative techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing, repetitive prayer, chi gong, tai chi, yoga, progressive muscle relaxation, jogging, even knitting.
Consequently, any type of treatment that is effective at reducing stress will be effective at benefiting a patient's health. His treatment model embraces the belief that "physical health is influenced by thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and conversely, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can be influenced by physical symptoms." Furthermore, "mind/body medicine teaches you how to take control of your life - how to use your own healing power to reduce stress and other negative behaviors and thoughts - and thus maintain or regain health." It's the very reason why I choose to make meditation a part of my life.
Dr. Benson also noted that “the relaxation response can be elicited by a variety of meditative techniques, such as diaphragmatic breathing, repetitive prayer, chi gong, tai chi, yoga, progressive muscle relaxation, jogging, even knitting.”
Practice makes perfect, focus to your desired meditation; success depends in the willingness to follow the process step by step. A troubled mind needs to calm down; it needs clear uninterrupted thought system. Knowing your true self is already a healing benefit of meditation. It needs faith, constant practice and follow-up of the effectiveness of desired healing is a must for correction and improvement.
Spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical purification is important in healing; it can be done by properly adjusting our eating habit, regular exercise and meditation practices. I have done numerous healing to myself through meditation and I am really happy to learn this ancient work of man through the guidance of our Heavenly Father. Spiritual meditation needs faith, without this substance there will be no hope for healing; while physical purification needs to be detoxified.
Eating polluted foods needs to be stopped, poor quality processed foods has to be eliminated and bad fats lead to destruction of the body. Emotional stress is already a part of our natural life and hard to avoid but can be healed by fully exploring how, where and when it started to arise. Meditate, talk to yourself and find a way which was less stressful. Anxiety, sleepless nights, chronic pain, causes us to think less and our productive body will fall short, what we need is peace of mind which many people are longing for. A saying goes “what is money for if you can not enjoy spending it”. What we can offer at this present time is to share what we discover, the revelation we received from our Heavenly Father to pass it on and not to keep it to ourselves we need to share what we have for the future of this earth to continue to exist. It is an ongoing journey to solicit the sacred secret not the mystery. After all, mystery is not a mystery anymore if it is revealed.
Our mind is the busiest property of our body it does not sleep or slumber it is the servant and at the same time the master of our body and soul. It is the director and a producer of our physical body. As stated according to the book of Superconscious Meditation by Daniel Condron (1998:57) “A closed mind cannot grow. A still, quiet, and disciplined mind can expand into infinity.” If we stay focus there will be an expansion of possibilities in the horizon ahead. The Kundalini that works hand in hand with the Chakras is very interesting to acquire to have knowledge. Practice regularly will enhance the gift of meditation and chakras are one that is easy to achieve. You can get healings and enlightenment right in your living room or in your bedroom or any place in your dwellings, you can harness the healing power and use it for your benefits and help others of their infirmities either spiritual or physical. With conscious mind we can unlock the possibilities that meditation’s power of healing is at hand. Discover the gifts of learning the faculty of meditation and let us enjoy the beauty that we may unfold. As Aristotle has said”Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.”
Illnesses or diseases are not only contained in a physical body but it also attacks spiritual, emotional and mental awareness. Pain and sufferings are not limited to what we feel and see to ourselves alone but also our surroundings. Being mindful of the value of life will lead you to seek physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stability and make more life divine. Whatever mind interprets it sends to our thought system then translated to action. When we begin healing ourselves, we want to start at the energetic level. Once the energy is generated we have to attempt to recognize the presence of the disease and start the healing process.
Selfishness, greediness and dream of power are only few factors mandated by human interest and evolution of affliction becomes a law of our mind, body and soul, sensually transmitted to others to do the same and make life more miserable to others. Human instinct is to survive in this earth same as animals, trees and plants that has life created not made. We are living in the same earth and in the same dimension; we should cherish life to be abundant free from sicknesses invented by man and not by nature. God Almighty created this earth for us to enjoy and not for us to live and suffer, we were born naked and not expecting to die clothed with jewelries. God created us with brain to use and a gift of meditation is for us to cultivate. The healing power of God is available to every one of us and all we need is ask for it, seek for it, and knock and it will be opened for you to use it. Fellowshipping with Him through meditation prayer is one way to do it.
The challenge in human being is the endurance in pain and suffering and to fight back is a punch in the moon but with the gift to battle this phenomena is to play or dance with it. To balance the negative mind with the positive will result in a wholeness and fulfillment of the human journey. Do not let negativity control the mind it will only hinder the desired concentration and the desire to be whole or cleansed; even though your mind is filled with troublesome thoughts, you still have access to your inner thought system that is reserved for this kind of situation. Even in deep meditative process our mind is aware but in undisturbed awareness, though it is quiet and body not moving too often as if we are in deep sleep, we are just in a full relaxation of the body and mind. Mindfulness made captivity captive, so if we are in deep physical relaxation combined with tranquil or peaceful mind the joy of relaxation is being met.
The fundamental way of training oneself is to be more focus on the actuality of any given situation than the imaginary existence, we need to be certain where center of the activity by asking: is it a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual problem? Then examine the structure. Dissect it before digesting it or before organizing it into systematic techniques or certain type of meditation approached. Stress is an oppressing dilemma in our life cause by external force that leads to our body and mind to react and cause depression and a chain of reaction will result into this various kind of illnesses. We have to bring this under control in its maiden signs, we have to use our authority to our own body. Early diagnosis means early cure and prolonging the sign will sometimes have a devastating outcome.
According to Edwin Hubble in Stephen Hawkins’ A Brief History of Time (2001:14) a theory is a good theory if it satisfies two requirements. It must accurately describe a large class of observations on the basis of model that contains only a few arbitrary elements and it must make definite predictions about the results of future observations. When we apply this statement from Edwin Hubble, it is understood that meditation is reality not a theory. The universal acceptance of this spiritual practice rooted out from their practical effectiveness in adopting the fundamental principles of conscious mind and alert body and the progress towards enlightenments needs to be appreciated and considered as the end results.
Law of attraction is a good solution when our thought perceives only negative experience. When we nurtured negativity in our mind even it may occupy only a smaller portion, this may later become not only a nuisance to our mind but a turbulence that keeps our conscious and quiet mind to enjoy stillness and calm and in turn be a great mental disturbances or the worst scenario it may turn into a mutated mind, that since negativity grow it will become stronger and dominant arbiter of your thought system then it will deliver to our body negative decision which will give you a negative productivity. What you plant is what you will harvest. We can not ignore the presence of negativity. Sometimes it teaches us to be more alert and aware that it may attack when least expecting it. Always set our mind to be free of negative debris, our physical body free of afflictions, and our emotion free of hoarding, let it go, you do not want to cherish bad thoughts, and the measurement of our faith will be a big factor in our devotion to our spiritual awareness which may give us to fully acquire the power of healing.
Power of the mind to visualize is a great plus in meditation. Anyone can begin meditation with a guide that instructs you what to do step by steps or obtain instructions in many books in the market but choose the one with a good credential. Internet is also a place you can obtain meditation practices but just be aware of what is good and real meditation. In order for you to obtain knowledge and understanding of meditation one should be in a spirit filled consciousness and it will guide you to enlightenment and healing. Some thought that meditation will bring you to outer space or reach heaven or have a prophetic vision. In my experience for a short time I should have seen that what their thought was, I will discuss my experience about this awesome experience later in this dissertation. Once you fully understand the truth behind it you will be surprised about the empowerment that you have just received.
“Meditation is a devout religious contemplation or spiritual introspection, or continued or extended thought; reflection.”(http://www.dictionary.com) . In meditation you can direct where you want your concentration to go. You are in complete control of the situation and no influence from someone else can alter that consciousness except yourself. Maintaining control over your thoughts, feelings and emotions is an accomplishment of empowered meditator. Different cultures and different religion shares their acquired knowledge through enlightenment and every one has its own unique experiences.
Looking nice and feeling good is one of the objective that our mind processes almost everyday when it comes to healthy living. We look at the mirror and seeing ourselves with bulky belly, double jaw, expanded cheek, wrinkled forehead, beady eyes with lines, dry and scaly skin, abnormal skin color and other abnormalities and disorders of the body. We set our mind that we will start to exercise and watch our diet now not tomorrow, and all of these end up putting that plan aside. We want our body to be healthy and as much as possible to be back once again as what we have decades ago. But doing it is not an easy task. Is it due to our nature of being lazy sometimes? Or is it due to illnesses itself that causes it. We bought every single new exerciser that comes out of the market but after few uses it starts to collect dust. We follow the instructions of our physician’s prescription up to the maximum until the side effects starts to show up.
We could be addicted to maintenance drug prescribed to us by our physician like high blood pressure drugs that once you stop taking it for a few days may trigger to shoot up the blood pressure worst than before, giving you no choice but to take that pills back and follow the same routine. We did not listen what we heard about the side effects until we experience it ourselves. Then we decided to take different steps, a different type or methods for healing. Such as: meditation, spiritual healings and natural alternatives and other mystic or holistic medicine. We start talking to naturopathy, herbalist, refer to homeopathy and on and on for prescription alternatives. That the worst thing can do to harm the body is almost nothing but could also have disastrous consequences to our body if we are taking drugs. Mixing vitamins, supplements, plants and vegetables with drugs sometimes take its toll.
Our ignorance to natural medicine is not free from risk.
Our life maybe in danger in relying on unproven, crackpot cures to heal our body. We have to be sure of the legitimacy of the medicinal cure not just listen to rip-off artist, watching slickest and deceptive advertisements that is after your pocket and will promise anything to get at your money. We have to make sure of the vitamins or natural therapy that we rely to be good. Examine very carefully, search for trustworthy testimonies and you need the one that help not that will harm you. Your health, your life, and even your life's savings could be wiped out if you are not going to give an extra care. We could be obsessed by false belief about healing. There are many healers that only deceive patients about his capacity to heal and one must be aware of the healer’s healing power. Some of these healers are after your wallet as have been previously mentioned and not your condition. By faith you can be healed and miracle does happen.
We have faith that our physician can heal us and that is why every time we feel sick we visit his office and we have faith that the prescription he gives will take care of the disease. Sometimes it happens that when you are on the way to his office you are really sick but as the receptionist calls you for your turn to talk to the doctor you do not feel sick anymore. We witness that televangelist healing the followers through laying of hands but we do not really know what is behind the camera if it is real or that is another act. We believe the strength of our faith, but how much faith do we need to be healed, so there will be no excuses for these healers to say you still need a stronger faith. Spiritual healers are mystical process that claim that they can call and talk to the dead to help in healing process.
Breathing and meditation is another method of healing by which you can do it your own after you achieved the technique, and constant practice is the way to acquire it. As for Christians, those who do not search for the truth of the Scriptures, and never submit every desire, and the purpose of life to faultless and unfailing proof of conformity and acceptance, those who disconnect themselves with God in prayer and fellowship will surely wander or stray from the right path and fall under the wings of deception of the evil doers, who still claim to cure diseases and put a spell over the minds, bodies and souls of men.
Holistic medicine as defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary is an “attempts to treat both the mind and the body”. Another meaning from the dictionary.com “Identifying with principles of holism in a system of therapeutics, especially one considered outside the mainstream of scientific medicine, as naturopathy or chiropractic, and usually involving nutritional measures.” Why Christians interpret holistic healing the same as the early Christian’s interpretation and belief that it is against the will of God to practice healing through magnetism, life energy force, some may interpret that meditation is part of it. If we will seek more knowledge of Him our God and the revelation of truth we may find the answer. The three kings that visited the stable where Jesus was born used astrology to find the place. Another one: A similar symbol, Nehushtan, is mentioned in the Bible in Numbers 21:4–9. Attacked by a plague of snakes in the wilderness, Moses holds up a serpent coiled around a staff, both made from bronze, so that the Israelites might recover from the bites.
Paganism in Christian life is idolatry and maybe one of the reasons why it is not acceptable to practice healing beyond the Christian methods like holistic healing. There are so many things going on in our daily journey in this planet but we do not consider or we forgot that once upon a time the early inhabitants of this planet earth lived longer than our present time and almost free of health disorders. Miracle healing, energy based healing, breathing and body exercises, healing that is believed to be necessary in everything from major immune system disorders to chronic or frequent recurrence of pain to mental and emotional disturbances. When our immune systems fail, our body degenerates.
People tend to embrace any kind of healing when the pain is no longer bearable, they will take all the options after the scientific medicines fail to deliver the cure. There are two symbols that medical doctors are using the Caduceus and the Rod of Asclepius. “In Hermetic tradition, the caduceus is a symbol of spiritual awakening, and has been likened to the Kundalini serpents of Hindu mysticism”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caduceus.
While the Rod of Asclepius used by Moses in the wilderness to be used by the Israelite to recover from snake bites. As stated in The Bible in the book of Numbers 21: 4-9. There could be a burden among Christians about holistic healing thinking. And they ignored the symbols of Caduceus and Asclepius that has been derived from the Greek god Hermes, god of messengers and thieves.
Now that we know that healing with holistic nature as per definition is not against the will of God but instead was revealed to those who actually given the gift of the power of healing. As Christian after all the search of this subject, I now peacefully enjoy and can preach to whoever wants to hear that the nature that we have in this earth is fully equipped with all the healing and nourishment of our mind, body and soul. Since this dissertation is about the meditation and the healing beyond it, it is up to us now to dig further about this subject. God Bless those who are enlightened to these research and may He empower you with His great healing power so that you maybe a blessings to others.
