Part 3 Body— interchangeably use for flesh
In Numbers 16:22, Moses and Aaron, "…fell upon their faces and said, 'O God, God of the spirits of all flesh, when one man sinned, will you be angry with the entire congregation?'" This passage clearly mentions God’s ownership of all humans’ spirit. The flesh or the body of mankind has connection with the spirit of God. To be human it needs a flesh, a borrowed vessel to house our souls. (Flesh is the soft substance of the body of a living human or other animal. In a human or other animal body, this consists of muscle and fat; for vertebrates, this especially includes muscle tissue (skeletal muscle), as opposed to bones and viscera. Animal flesh, as food, is called meat— https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Flesh).
Body has hard substance and a soft substance and the latter is the flesh which is always involved when it opposes God’s will—sin. All living human beings have body with flesh and the Holy Spirit help believers in the mortification of the sins of the flesh. Many continuously ignore the presence of the Holy Spirit in our body and focus their belief more to the Son only and for this reason, the brain develops a full acceptance to Oneness theology (Jesus only doctrine). When the Son Jesus asked the Father to send the Holy Spirit, it comes in bundle, the Spirit of the Father and the Son which has the Spirit of the Father through our acceptance to let the Spirit dwell in our body. In this view, something has changed ;1) The Holy Spirit will dwell in us upon our Will. 2) Church of Christ which is our body becomes the kingdom of God which will still remain our own domain 3) we become a partaker of the Divine nature of God. 4) The Holy Spirit within us must be acknowledged.
Jesus made it clear that the Father is so important to Him that many neglect to acknowledge the Father. In Hebrews 11:6 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him. (NLT) And the Son Jesus who knows the Father so well wants us to realize that without the Father who sent Him nothing will exist. Jesus followed up with his words: “
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out (John 6:37).”
“This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day (John 6:39).”
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44).”
And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father” (John 6:65)
The Apostles fully received the Holy Spirit after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The grace of God that was expressed by the Son to the Father to send was described in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:2-6) When they were all filled by the Holy Spirit and received the gift of tongue, the ability to speak different languages and they reach and spread the word of God to many souls and become part of the body of Christ that we called the church of Christ or body of believers.
God is a Spirit and giver of life, He created mankind to be different from other creations especially the animals. Our physical body which is the temporary living space for our spiritual soul has the intellect to think and communicate with God. To other souls, it has the feelings of joy of living, while pain and sorrow for allowing sin get into our space that causes many downfall. Our freedom to act and react goes in a wrong way; our decisions to make our lives in peace is not in line with our thoughts and ignoring the Holy Spirit to dwell in our body hurts Him. Human beings are different from angels, although they were created without a physical body, they can communicate with humans in many different ways. Animals were created with flesh and some can communicate with human through human’s capacity to interpret.
Our body was weakened by various diseases because our strength was overpowered by sins. We did not take care of the environment and we polluted it to the max, like the illegal cutting of trees which gives a bad effect to the environment and eventually harm humans. A perfect body has no room for any kind of illnesses. In other words, a free stress life removes the burden of achieving a perfect life. If our bodies are as warm as the ruby and as pure as the pearl, we can enjoy the sufficiency of perfection to be suitable to live in the new earth. Our body is like an automobile that will not function without an engine and an engine without a fuel will not go anywhere as well. A body without a soul is like a three dimensional statue without a mental abilities of a living being, while a soul without a spirit has no feelings, consciousness or memory, in other words, there is no life. As the Bible said: “Spirit gives life and flesh counts for nothing—John 6:63.”
If disobedience did not occur in the Garden of Eden, our bodies will not work as hard as we do now. No struggle to make a living, mothers will not experience pain in delivering babies; there will be no killings and covetousness; we will never know what money looks like and what it does, no religion to fight for, no possession to be envied, neither worries nor struggles, for all will live in a standard way of living.
Our body is the temple of God that needs to be respected. The Holy Spirit of God will dwell within our body upon our willingness and if we do not allow the Holy Spirit to use our body, that is a clear indication of not acknowledging God’s presence in our life, which will lead vulnerability to attack by the adversary of our faith. The church known as the Body of Christ or Body of believers in Christ Jesus is based on many references in the Bible. In Romans 12:5, KJV—"So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one member’s one of another." In NASB—"so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members’ one of another." NLT—"so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other." The body of Christ is also referenced in: 1 Corinthians 12:12–27, Ephesians 3:6, 4:15-16 and 5:23, Colossians 1:18 and 1:24. It is already well accepted in Christian faith and known to members that they are the Body of Christ and Jesus Christ as the head of the body. A Building without the presence of the body of believers to worship God and fellowship with fellow believers is just an empty building.
Circumcising part of the male physical body was never the purpose of God. Physical circumcision is not a sacrifice, though it can be regarded as a covenant with Abraham. As generation came to pass, it became acceptable as a personal hygiene but not as a command of God. Two of the Abrahamic religions still observe the circumcision of the flesh. Some Christian groups observe circumcision as a rite of passage. The same metaphor applies to circumcision of the heart, as the symbol that must take place when a person has a change of heart in the New Covenant. As "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man is born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."(John 3:5-6 KJV)
Humans were created with three distinct compositions; body was formed, the soul from the dust of the earth and the spirit that gives life. Paul in his letter to the Romans also mentions these three distinct parts of mankind; the body, the mind (soul) and the spirit. “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:1-2 NASB).
"Our body is the essence of our physical existence that co exist with our soul and spirit. It has a limited existence, and loses some cells as it aged, decays when the body dies and goes back to dust where it came from. The body identifies what we are but not who we are. "And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed," (Proverbs 5:11 KJV). The body (flesh) covers the spiritual components of a person made in God’s image. Our heart which is flesh as many believe is where our Soul and the Spirit meet and whatever the agreements are the mouth that speaks.
If we remain in the love of God and truly in submission to His Holiness then the Spirit of God is truly with us. But if we choose to remain self-centered, self righteous and we do things without considering the consequences, then we are not with Him and He is not with us and we deserve a selfish payoff instead of selfless reward. Anything done out of faith and love for God will come back void and anything done arrogantly and with bad intention is definitely not empowered by the Holy Spirit and it is the work of the flesh.(Romans 8:8; 14:23). We need to train to discipline ourselves to behave in a proper manner and be a blessing to others.
Body and Flesh is acceptably synonymous despite of the fact that it is written with a clear distinction between them. 2 Corinthians 4:10— “that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our Body” the hardness, harshness and rigidity and in Colossians 2:23—“that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal Flesh which is grace, kindness and mercy. When taken in more simple and literal approach, both word can be used to represent mankind either body or flesh. Body is made up of flesh and flesh is a body. (Luke 20: 36); (Luke 3:6). We should not even involve in quarreling about the word. As a rule of thumb when body is mentioned it is more being used for God like for example “the body of the saint” while flesh can be refer to sins like for example “the desire of the flesh.”
The Works of the flesh will try anything and everything to gain popular attention under the cloth of ministerial gown acting to be worth believing but only deceiving those who are motivated in seeking a closer relationship with God. The closer we are trying to get closer the more we may feel some force trying to hinder our willingness to do the greatest thing for ourselves. The flesh controlled by the world is less likely to be their target for they already own their souls. The flesh in the New Testament is often referred to the physical body. However, Paul in his letters described flesh as the body that easily gets along with sins.
Where flesh is present there goes sin. It seems like flesh and sin coexist without the goodness to be a part of its existence.
There is a theory that the physical body of human was bad by nature and the spirit of a person which is the source of life was good. When our souls are consistently in communication with the Spirit, the souls turned to be a spiritual soul and give a healthy body and with a healthy body it gives us a healthy mind. Human body in the Bible also referred to as flesh; our heart, our lungs, skin and tissues and all the meaty parts are flesh.
Healthy lungs will generate healthy breathing; breathing controls the energy of the body especially during meditation. A clear mind will allow for clarity of thought thus block negative behavior and prevent past issues to interfere with the process. When a person is physically relaxed, the brain transmits the anticipated concentration more clearly and without blockage. Concentration must be free of mental distress or agitation, fear or worries, no environmental interferences that would break meditational focus. In addition, proper arrangement and position of the body is sometimes necessary. That is the way to prepare the body before we start communicating with God.
Though our natural body is flesh that’s vulnerable to lies, deception and temptations are often mentioned in the Bible as weak to sin and as an opposition to God’s truth and righteousness which evidently lead to separation from God. The Bible clearly stated: "Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:19-21).
The flesh can never be recovered from sins unless God changes the circumstances our whole body and be raised as a spiritual body. As Jesus said, “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit” (John 3:6). “It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, then there is also a spiritual body. …However the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.”— 1Corinthians 15:44-46. If there is a natural body there will be a natural face; a natural color; and natural death—(James 1:23; Daniel 10:8; Ezekiel 44:31).
The Will of God is to be with Him through eternity and the natural body cannot lead us in the place where the true sons of God live a life in awesomeness walking according to the Spirit. The dust that we received from Adam will be forgotten and the life we received from Christ will be alive and spiritual. Human beings have a spirit, but we are not spirits. We are a living soul with a borrowed vessel that will eventually turn back to dust.
The soul that sinned dies according to Prophet Ezekiel and when King David sinned, He ask for forgiveness that his soul be spared from the dust of the ground. “For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep and was laid with his fathers and saw corruption” Acts 13:36 (ESV). All have sinned and short of the glory of God. And Paul is very clear and said that “the wages of sin is death”. Our body has no escape it all dies and our soul can be saved when we live beneath the wings of the Almighty who have a celestial body that can host our souls.
When we faithfully and humbly dwells in the shelter of the Almighty Father and fully submit to His Purpose and Will confessing that He is the only way and no other way we can survive this troubled world to live in peace and love. Trust in the word of God and believe that He will never leave us and forsake us in time we needed Him most. He is our refuge, our fortress and the Most High to lean on. Stay and follow what the Holy Spirit wants us to do and we will never be wrong and in this manner we will be protected and guided by the shadow of the Almighty. He will protect us and our families from the great lies and deceptions and likewise temptations will fall short to destroy and snatch us from the love of the Almighty Father.
Stay enlightened to the truth, remain faithful and love Him without a doubt, acknowledge His existence in our life and He will acknowledge us and reward us with all protection from snare of the fowler and from any deadly viruses and droughts, He will shield us with His wings and all we need is to stay faithful and humble under the shadow of His might. The wicked that are depriving of rest will not sleep until they do evil things. The Bible says: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matt. 10:28 KJV)
We have to be mindful and never fall astray for we do not know when the time is up. It maybe a little too late, but as the bible says, no one knows the day or hour when the grace has reached its ultimate time. As in the days of Noah, they were given 120 years, while in the Nineveh during the time of Jonah, they were given 40 years and in Habakkuk time, they have to wait for help while God is putting in place the answer to the Prophet's prayers. We can see God does not give surprises and we see how He does things in a specific time to end the wickedness or just to solve any situation like in Habakkuk’s which was temporary.
The Angels in heaven don’t know when things will come and even the Son himself because it’s only the Father that knows. We must listen to our hearts where the Spirit talks to our souls and our body absorb it. We must not be fooled by many people preaching in the name of the Son but only serving their own purpose and not God. “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God” (1 John 4:1-3).
Let us live in love, peace and in harmony with the word of God. So, God of peace sanctify us in wholeness and fullness so that the perfection we need may be achieved and the joy of being with you now and forever becomes a fulfillment of God's desire to be with us throughout eternity. Through the work of the Son Jesus our spirit and soul and body have been preserved blameless and to the Holy Spirit without a doubt the way, the truth and reason for us to be a partaker of the Divine Nature of God. Amen
God Bless Everyone.
